Hello. I hope someone can help. I have used Vuze forever with no problems whatsoever. Until today. Suddenly, it didn't do what it usually does and it.......... just wouldn't open. I have now spent hours uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Java. Before that, I did a system restore to a couple of days ago (everything else has been working fine and I have made NO changes to my pc recently, but thought I'd try a restore anyway). The upshot is... Vuze simply will not open. I get the spnning circle for a second or two, and then...... nothing. I can't think of anything else to try. I love my Vuze! If anyone could help me to get it working again, I'd be a very happy bunny! I am using Windows 7.
Thanks so much for your reply. I have tried what you suggested (CMD is a bit scary to me!!) and I get this message when I type in what you suggest:
"program is not recognised as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file". Geek to me!
I have also had a very helpful reply from another Vuze bod with excellent and detailed advice as to uninstalling and reinstalling Vuze and Java. I have followed their advice to the letter but still Vuze will not open!
I have not made any recent changes to my computer (Windows 7)... apart from.... the usual Windows Updates and Java... I am suspecting that Java is the culprit here, but having uninstalled and reinstalled (definitely the correct version for 32 bit) I am ........... stumped. And nearly crying with frustration!
Anyway... thanks for your advice thus far.... if you have anything else up your sleeve to suggest, I would be grateful to read you!
Further to my last message.... Vuze will open in Safe Mode. But.... beyond that, I don't know what to do!
Mmmm... Have followed your wiki.vuze.com link (thank you once again!) and.. I think I might be a bit "thick" regarding the cmd command... could I just clarify that you want me to type in exactly what I see... spaces and all? I have copied and pasted all (separately), to test, the instructions in your link but still get the same "program is not recognised" message.
As a first test open up a cmd prompt, just type in the word "java" (with no quotes) and hit enter/return - what do you get?
Second, open up Windows Explorer and look at your C:\ folder - navigate into
Program Files (x86)
and look for a "java" folder, then if it exists look in there and see what is listed.
Likewise navigate into
and do the same
This will tell you what versions of Java you have installed
I'm also having this issue of vuze no longer starting up. It's only occured since Windows updated yesterday. Unfortunately because the update was a critical update I cant even restore it to an earlier version.
I've been following your suggestions with no luck either. I've installed both the 32 and 64 bit versions, updated Java, tried to run it through DOS etc. nothing has worked
I look forward to seeing whats actually happened here, thanks for all the help.
jeeze you know the guys that work for Vuze and patrol the forums are allowed to have a life outside of these forums you know. LOL
Um... thank you greatly for your input, GaryE. Very helpful....... LOL.
