Beta 19 fixed the sorting issue with subscriptions..YAY!  There is  God!  Unfortunately, I do not know in which beta version it happened, but the total number of subsription results is gone.  Can we get that back?  I use it regularly to alert myself to cleaning out or downloading from hidden subscriptions.  I suspect others do too.

Is there a specific forum or link to give feedback for beta testers?  I am a new beta tester.
Which number do you mean? I have an indicator in the sidebar for the number of 'unread' subscriptions and, if I collapse the Subscription entry there's a 'total unread' number shown

Next to the subscription heading in the sidebar.

Sorry Parg.  I did not even think of collapsing the heading to see the total.  It has always been there collapsed or not.  Does the collapsed total also show the total including hidden subscriptions?
It includes the hidden ones - I don't think anything changed recently that would affect the way this works

First I would like to offer kudos on the sorting of the subscriptions.  It works even better than ever before.  Add a new subscription and it is immediately placed in its right place.  Before, it always stayed at the top of the list until Vuze was restarted.  BRAVO!

The total subscriptions (including hidden ones) was seen whether the subscription heading was collapsed or not.  Now one only sees it when they are collapsed.  One could watch the total go down as one deleted or marked as read individual subscription results (expanded).

If it is still a question, I am talking about the TOTAL number next to the subscription heading which was always there whether collapsed or not.
I'm looking at the code from 2011 and it is the same as current in regards to only showing the total count when collapsed

https://svn.vuze.com/public/client/trunk...gerUI.java

line 1064.

Not saying that you're wrong but I can't see how things have changed!

Parg,
I guess a picture is worth a thousane words at this point.  I am including a screen pic of what it USED to be.  It has taken some time because I had to downgrade to Vuze 5.5 again and then wait for rubscription results to come in again.  The pic shows the TOTAL unread subscription results next to the subscription heading WHILE it is expanded.  Please note that the total is 14 and showing subscription results is 14.  One result is in a hidden subscription.

It is my pleasure to be helping with Vuze and give back a little to the corporate effort.  Only wish I knew something about coding so I could help more. :)

Same pic in B21.  No total unread results in expanded subscription side bar.
Ahhhh! Like you said, 1000 words :)

What has been re-organised is the structure of the sidebar - once-upon-a-time subscriptions were a top-level item with individual subscriptions indented below them - if you went back far enough in time you would have the current behaviour but without the 'Content Discovery' parent. Subscription totals were only shown when collapsed.

Then 'Content Discovery' was introduced and a hierarchy level removed - 'Subscriptions' at the same level as the individual subscriptions. Nobody changed the code when they did this so the result was that the totals were always shown (there was no way to expand the Subscriptions entry so it behaved as always collasped)

Then the hierarchy was changed again to make individual subscriptions children on 'Subscriptions'. The existing code started 'working' again and only showed totals when collapsed...

I am guessing that the reason the totals were only shown when collapsed was to either improve performance (expanded was the expected default case and therefore no need to work out the totals) or visual clutter.

Given then the totals seem to useful all the time I'll look into getting them back.

Thanks!
It is a very minor thing, I know.  Just makes it a bit easier for me personally to be able to manage my hidden subscriptions.  I assume that there are others who have many hidden subscriptions to keep their sidebar manageable during TV show off seasons.  Afterall, two clicks more to collapse and reexpand is SOOOO laborious!  ROFL! تصویر: teeth_smile.gif
