updated to windows8.1 now have coonection issues

I updated to widows 8.1 and now have Nat and routing issues  Not sure if its the firewall or router or windows security. There  no issues with windows 8.0
I have tried changing the ports The downloads are showing red smillies the Nat box is grey and the router is showing red
Any help will be gratefully received
Sadly Widows 8.1 does not  appear to allow a system restore
