socks setup failed: SOCKS 5: udp association fails
#1
Frog
Hello

It's been three years I have been using Vuze and I had no problems. No NAT/Firewall problems.  But now I am having an error.
I am a machine running Ubuntu 14.04, with an earlier Vuze 5.3 & Tor installed.

When I try to download a torrent it shows that tracker is OK, and seeds and peers are ready. But nothing gets connected. I have read the forum to find answers to the error  but I am sorry I could not find the solution.

All the trackers show this following error :
"Error: Offline - PRUDPPacketHandlerException: socks setup failed: SOCKS 5: udp association fails [reply=7]"

The socks status is OK ( showing green) and I have > 100 users online. But neither the upload nor the download change from 0B/s.
I even waited for 3 hours to see if connection to peers can be done. But nothing, There is no download.

Please suggest and help.

Good day

I'm having the same problem my trackers keep on being offline it takes me a week to download 300Mb, I'm not sure if it has something to do with my Malwarebytes, I don't know who to ask or where to find help.

I'm running window 7 and Vuze version 5.6.2.0 I know my Vuze Plus licence will expire in the next three day can that also be the problem that I don't have a license?

Did you ever find a solution. I have the same issue.

UDP tracker communication won't run over Tor (assuming you are proxying tracker comms over Tor) as Tor doesn't support UDP. Perhaps previously you had torrents with http/https trackers?

As a fallback Vuze will use the DHT to find peers, however the DHT is also UDP based... Also it doesn't work for private torrents
