ip filter window problems

hello everyone, I am a long time vuze user and never had problems until now, not only is the ip filter loading very slowly, I am not able to resize the window either and have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling. can anyone help me?

Well, for a start, when you want help, the first thing you must do is be clear and concise and give full details.  All you've done is be concise as in a very short and vague message.  I know you didn't post here to have your fingers smacked but with computers and all things electronic, there can be a million reasons (literally) why something is awry.

What version of Vuze?
Is it a fresh install?
Have you installed Java properly or updated Java
Did you restore your configuration data from a backup or reconfigure everything manually?
Were the previous versions of Vuze installed on the same OS
What OS are you using.
How long does the IP filter take to load?
What IP block-list are you using and where did you get it from?
What window/view does not resize?
What tick-boxes are you ticking in Options > IP Filters

thanks for your reply and help, but I have given up on Vuze and already have moved onto utorrent. Vuze was not only overloading my ram, but giving me random freezes as well. maybe it is my setting or maybe it is java. but all in all, Bittorrent software should not be bloated to this point. I might reconsider coming back to Vuze, but I just want to say, some bloatware is unneccesary. like burning software. I have been a loyal user for over 10 years, but enough is enough. thanks for all the good years, I might consider coming back to this software, only if it slims to a certain degree, while keeping critical functions. I do see there are new variations now, but I am not a beta tester, so I will wait and see.

I understand your view.  Vuze does have many features that are useful for people who run lots of torrents and are constantly needing to manipulate their content and torrents.  If you have never used some the features, you would not know how reliant it is possible to become as it is not only a torrent client, but also an Entertainment Media Library all in one.  No other software needed to manage your files and library entries.

Vuze, being cross-platform needs java and I'll think you'll find that is why it is often regarded as bloated.  It is not that there is so many modules of the app running simultaneously which is what many people think there must be due to the size, but more the fact that it's need for java causes the app to be heavier on PC resources compared to other clients.  I have run as many as 3600 torrents loaded at the same time on my rig and I am now down to 2700, but I wouldn't be without it. 

The difficult part about trying to help people is that they are forgetful about the fact that remote helpers can't see what they can, don't know what's been tried in attempting to resolve the problem and most times are devoid of information needed for troubleshooting!  MY approach to software is not to change unless the prospective app is just so far advanced that I'm doing myself an injustice.  IF most things about apps and their competitors are equal, I prefer to get to know my software inside out and it is impossible to do that if I am constantly changing from one app to another.

again thank for your insight and explanation to why the software need so much resources and how the java platform takes up a lot of ram resources. I have stuck with Vuze until now, because I like the advance features like the ip filter as well as swarm merging. Still when I using Vuze, I would like to run other Ram intensive applications like Photoshop or VR in the future.

I have tried to troubleshoot for a few hours using the wiki as well as troubleshoot guidelines and internet search, but the problems only kept getting worse. My troubleshooting skills are along the lines of novice to advanced. But sometimes I feel that for the purpose of downloading and uploading torrents, what is the ideal balance in having the ability to multitask other tasks as well.

But yes troubleshooting computer problems, nevermind software problems without the actual specs and specific errors are a loosing game, that is why most softwares are released having done most of the testing by beta testers, so the kinks are worked out.

That is why I thank you for your replies and your time and see you in the future with Vuze micro torrents.
