help uninstalling tat/bloatware that came with vuze.
#1
I'm very annoyed, I deselected all bloatware from the installer and the vuze installer still installed a search helper. now i uninstalled it from control panel and it still shows an error everytime i boot the pc. its a fresh install hence very frustrating as i only reinstalled to remove all the bloaty stuff that had accumulated and I paid special attention to deselect them all..

Anyhow.. on boot i get a Taskeng.exe box error, windows can't find  c\progfiles\search extensions\client.exe make sure you typed it correctly try again...    i've searched registry, nothing, nothing in startup..  please help thanks.. Never installing vuze again because of this :( very sad, hopefully this install doesnt get corrupt for a long time as the softwares great.

Yes it's a minefield, so always do a custom install and untick all those "extra" options. That is a choice vuze developers  have taken :-(
If you used download.com they add this kind of stuff to the software you download. I stopped using AND recommending download.com for that reason. They threw away customer trust to make money IMHO.

Hmm registry would definitely be my best guess. Know from my days of removing malware, startup items and browser extenstions can hide in several different places. So I would check all of the root registry folders, i.e. HKey_current_user as well as Local_machine.

Also note that while the vuze developers did decide to go this route they are no longer the only ones. utorrent also is doing that now since they have been acquired by bittorrent inc.

It sucks but unfortunately that's the landscape for bittorrent clients nowadays.

It's like you somehow missed the very first sentence in his post...

I get that same Taskeng.exe box error. At least now I know it's Vuze that did it, thanks.
