Vuze only VPN
#1
I have a sub to PIA (Private Internet Access VPN)

I'd like to know if its possible to setup Vuze to login into the VPN by itself. In other words I would like Vuze to download through the VPN but everything else on my machine (remote desktop, file server, web browser, email client etc) to just use the regular unprotected channels. If Vuze isn't capable of doing this, I'd be open to any means to accomplish my goal. This is because using the VPN disables my means to use remote access capabilities concurrently since you only get one randomly assigned port.

IDK if i worded that simply enough, let me know and I can clarify anything.

I'm running OSX 10.8 on an iMac. Thanks in advance!

You can, but it's technical and possibly dangerous. A better approach would be to use a Virtual Machine like Virtual Box or VMWare, and put Vuze and PIA inside of that. Your host machine would then run without a VPN, and you could do all the server stuff with it.

The "possibly dangerous" way of doing it with no-VM, is to change add routes to override PIA. For a Windows example, see the "route" section of https://www.reddit.com/r/Piracy/comments...n/cyqc8t0/
Mac has a similar route command. You'd have to know your gateway address. Vuze will have to be bound to the VPN's internal ip address (The VPN Helper plugin does this for you)

PIA does a lot of work to prevent you from accessing your non-VPN internet, so even the "route" commands may not be enough. I've noticed that (at least on Windows) the latest few versions, the do some DNS overriding, so even after you get the default route to go to your DNS lookups will fail.
