Vuze not responding
#1
Frog
My Vuze has been playing up over nearly the last week. It starts o.k. then after about 5 minutes it starts to freeze, a couple of seconds here and there, then the freezes start to get longer in duration, until after about 30 minutes it freezes completely, but, it still continues to download content????

I am also running Trustzone VPN

I have done an uninstall and have used CC cleaner and Antimalware restarted my PC and reinstalled, updated Java  Still the same problem. I have installed Vuze Plus, same problem.

This problem seems to only affect Vuze. All my other programs seem unaffected.

Can you help me with this issue.

Do you have a lot of torrents in your Vuze Library? This can cause the runtime to run out of memory and produce the kind of symptoms you are experiencing. If so consider archiving completed ones (when they are completed and stopped, right-click on them and select 'archive')

I have blocked azpromo, cleared all torrents, which has improved things a little bit, but still the same problem. Trying to get my head around this runtime. Anything I've read about runtime may as well be written in hieroglyphics, it is full of terms and words that are way past my understanding. My local computer guy (Ha!) has made it quite clear he doesn't want anything to do with torrent sites. So as you can see, I'm stuck.

I have used Vuze for many years, and have never had anything like this problem before. I can still use Vuze, but only frustratingly so.

I am running 32 bit, would it help to go to 64 bit?

Anybody got any Ideas??

You gotta ask a lot of dumb questions, before you can get to the smart ones!

O.k. found the problem. It seems that my hard drive had developed some errors, and it lost C:\system32\config, so I reset windows 10. Problem solved.

Thanx guys.

Please I have the same issues - only with VUZE, no other programs. There is a lag between when I manage to move the cursor and right click a command to when the command is actually executed...could be up to 5 minutes. Also the screen freezes while the downloads continue (but you can't see this until you unfreeze the screen by using windows task manager, exiting from Vuze, and then restarting the program).

And what do you consider a large number of torrents in the library? I often delete them all simply for convenience, but at times I have a full thousand. But again, sometimes when the screen freezes I have only between 0 and 100 files in the library.

Finally, up until a month ago I was able to see the full size of the program that I was downloading, the amount of the program (In megabytes or gigabytes) that I had downloaded, and then the percentage of the entire program that I had downloaded. But now and for the past month I no longer see the total size of the program, just the size that I have downloaded of it and the percentage. I have done a clean re-install several times... even gone into my C drive to delete the files left behind when the control panel uninstalls the program, and that feature is still missing.

I've used VUZE - and before it Azureus - for many years. Every so often it plays tricks on me, like it's doing now!

As far as the columns you see that is a user configurable option.

I do not know if it works exactly the same on other OS's but on Mac I just right click on the name of any of the columns and I get a list of all of the columns . . . the one with check marks are the ones currently selected just select the ones you want to see.

Also it is possible to change the order of the columns by left click and draging them to change the order.  Depending upon how many columns you are showing it is possible that the columns you want to see are off the edge of the screen so to see all of the columns you might need to scroll left or right with your mouses scroll control.

If you are even rarely running more than about 750 torrents (active or not) I would recommend that you double the amount of memory Vuze uses that might eliminate your other problem.  How to do that varies greatly with your OS.  On unix and Mac you need to edit a configuration file.  On Windows it is an option you select from within Vuze using the setting/options/preferences/whatever it is called.  You might need to enable Advanced user mode to be able to change the amount of memory Vuze uses.

Thank you very much. I will investigate and implement your suggestions this weekend.

No problem.  Let us know if that was the problem or not!
