My main drive crashed, so I had to re-install Vuze on the new hard drive. I am trying to locate torrents of recent titles and for the most part, no matter what I type in, I either get a few completely unrelated hits or I get most of a page of hits for "Pioneer One". On the old drive, I had no problem but even torrents for things I found on the old drive are not appearing.
I'm assuming that there is something improperly set in the settings, but for the life of me I can't find anything concerning search parameters.
Help would be gretly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

I use Vuze in Azureus mode (Classic interface) so I'm assuming that you are using a search function within the default Vuze GUI itself or are you referring to "Swarm Discoveries"?
Did you do a configuration backup and if so, did you restore your config data and torrents from a backup. (backups should be kept on another drive/usb stick)
Do all other functions of Vuze seem to operate as normally expected?

Many search templates that were native to Vuze years ago have been removed. The ones that are now native are worthless. If you did a new install, you probably lost your original search templates and thus getting very poor results. Check which search templates are being used to do your searches and add whatever you can find via Googling. Avoid Torfeat search templates because they include monetization. Which templates you find may be old and outdated. It is hit or miss. There are other threads that deal with how to change or update templates.
Someone with more coding experience than I have really needs to update search templates and make them available, please.

Thanks. I gave up and found another client- Folx. It's not as good or multi-functional, but it finds my torrents.

Any chance of someone, with more tech knowledge than I have, downloading some current templates that are easy to put onto Vuze. Have now just paid for my second Vuze plus as I uninstalled my old Vuze because I thought it was not working. Tried to download templates but could only find a site (that I used before) that has really old templates. It was easy to download the templates from this site and I am looking for something new that is easy too. Am completely hopeless on the computer but had no problems when everything was working. Everything has changed!!!!

Extratorrent is GONE. All my subscriptions were based on that site.. Innate Vuze search templates are far from comprehensive. Can SOMEONE crfeate templates for Rarbg or eztv, etc. please and make them available to the community?. I have no experience writing HTML and Vuze meta search is worthless without functioning search templates.

I used Vuze to Download almost exclusively Movies. So disappointed at the disappearance of torrents. But....
What has worked for me: I just went to: thepiratebay.org
I have been using that torrent site to find the movie I want. I make sure that VUZE is open in my computer. In Pirate Bay, I click to download the movie and get warnings to not D/L anything without a VPN. I click to download anyway, and the file automatically starts IN Vuze! Voila, problem solved.....

When I search for a torrent, my Vuze + is giving me a long list of torrents I did not ask for and not giving me the ones that I DID ask for.
I can find no solution to this. Removed old Vuze+ entirely and re-installed but this did not solve the problem.
I need help - but I do not understand the technology so I need a simple answer.

Alan, the meta search is virtually worthless when it comes to finding any movies or TV programs since almost all torrent sites that were supported by Vuze have shut down. You are left with a few very limited search sites that can be accessed by Vuze. Presently, when you are doing a search, the results are frrom these very limited sites, which contain nothing of value for the average user of Vuze. This is because of Vuze's necessary policy against piracy, so the results you get are only what is within the public domain, which does not include, in most cases, most movies and TV programs. You get many results because the torrent sites that ARE available are showing anything that remtoely is close to your search terms. none of which do you want. After many years of using Vuze, the meta search feature has essentially become defunct for people who do not know the HTML language necessary to write a search template. I do not and am waiting for someone who does to write and make available to the Vuze community a search template for RARBG or EZTV, etc.. These torrent sites are still up and running, but unless you go to the actual site and use the magnet function, there is no way to access these site direct from Vuze to search ANYTHING.

Giggle,
You may seriously want to convey your issue to the administrators. Nothing that I have done has changed much of anything for months now. Vuze has lost its "claim to fame" and no one is responding.

I also have found that Vuze is practically useless now for finding films. And I didn't upgrade or reinstall the software. The searches just automatically downgraded, perhaps from one of Vuze's periodic auto updates. If others have discovered a way to get the Vuze search engine viable again, please let me know.

Ferdnyc,
Thanks for your views. I am well aware of search template issues and have explained in various post to others exactly what you have stated in your post. At one time, Vuze DID include search templates in their program, such as KickAss, but due to legal concerns pulled it without notice in an update. Kickass is basically defunct, so the issue is moot for Kickass. In numerous posts in the last 6 months, I have requested other users to help with search templates who are familiar with HTML without any response. While Vuze cannot include such templates, other users can create them and make them available on torrent sites without Vuze's direct participation. I cannot even begin to suggest other alternatives that Vuze could use to address this issue, but they have been quite responsive and CREATIVE in the PAST. Maybe they can create something that will address the need AND keep the program protected. If the issue is not brought up, no one will address it. So whether it is Vuze or other users, I am continuing to raise the issue.
Searching for Meta Search Templates on any torrent site yields results from 2013 and older, which, in the BT world is like saying 50 years ago. Most of the sites in the downloaded torrents are either defunct or they have changed their domain, making the templates worthless. How hard would it be for someone with HTML experience to simply change the torrent domains to their new address and repost them on a torrent site? I have tried doing that myself following VuzeWiki instructions without success. Maybe the task to do that is more difficult than I realize, so I am just making the suggestion in a search for solutions to the issue.

Ravenstree. the fact that we are all having problems with Meta Search does not have anything directly to do with Vuze. Previously they included numerous Search Templates with the program. Due to legal issues forcing Vuze to remove the templates and various BT sites closing down, we are all left with nota.
