Vuze Leap due to Problem with Vuze and PIA
#1
Hi all,

For years now, I have subscribed to both Vuze and Private Internet Access. I left both programs in their default setup except binding Vuze to PIA.

Up until a few weeks ago, I enjoyed a total combined download speed of 900kb-1Mb. Then, the download speed dropped to only 40-60kb. My raw speed test (speedtest.net) is ~75Mb/s. With PIA active on various close (Eastern US) servers is 15-20 Mb/s. This is without Vuze active. The speed is the same with nothing downloading on Vuze. As soon as I download ANYTHING, my speed on Speedtest.net is < less than 2Mb/s even though the download speed on Vuze is <60kb/s. Why such a drastic drop with Vuze downloading?

I tried everything PIA told me to do with changing UDP and TCP settings. I went through Vuze and set up Port Forwarding. Everything got that 40-60kb/s.

I went ahead and downloaded Vuze leap, bound it to PIA and started a download (same one I was testing in Vuze). For the first couple of minutes, I was downloading at over 500kb/s!! Then it slowed to <50kb/s. Then it went back up to 1MB/s. Awesome.

I have no idea whats going on. I think it has to be Vuze because even when PIA and Vuze are on and NOTHING is downloading in Vuze, speeds are awesome. Once I initiate a download, speeds plummet.

Can anyone help explain this and what to do?

I have this same problem, I have narrowed it down to something in vuze.  I have also given up because it is something in how vuze handles the network connection and no setting I have found fixes it, or it helps out briefly and then reverts back.  I have switched to transmission for windows and it seems to handle the downloading part better.  Strange thing vuze always has uploaded fine and still will even though it will not download properly.

I've had the same problem and took the same corrective actions. I also tried Open VPN and had the same results. I've tried every thing the wiki suggested and I keep comming back to Vuze. I've been using Azueurus for I can't remember how many years but something is wrong. I used to get speeds of over 2mb now I'm lucky if I get 30kb. I have notice that a download that used to take an hours now takes days but when a download gets to around 95%+ the download speeds up to when Vuze worked.
Has anyone tried any other bit torrent program? I love Vuze but if it doesn't work then what good is it. I don't mind paying but I will not participate in a subscription model and I don't need a media play.
