Vuze 5.7.2 & 5.7.3 crash on launch (MacOS 10.11.6)

Both Vuze 5.7.2 and 5.7.3 immediately crash on launch. The icon shows up in the Dock, and then immediately closes. No error messages, just blink and gone. And now, after uninstalling and attempting to reinstall 5.7.1, the installer is crashing.

Mac OS El Capitan 10.11.6
Macbook Pro (mid-2012) 13"
8 GB RAM
960 GB SSD (600+ GB available)
Java Version 8 Update 101

When this orginally happened with 5.7.2, I was able to revert to 5.7.1 and everything worked fine. Now, when I try to go back to 5.7.1 (downloaded from sourceforge), the exact same thing is now happening with 5.7.1 as with the later versions.

Vuze Leap seems to work, but I can't stand the interface; I'd rather stick with the full Vuze I've come to love over the years.

Any thoughts on how to fix?

I'm having a similar problem. It doesn't crash but it just stops responding and won't open.
Disappointed with the lack of response from Vuze. I've been using it for several years with no problems. I've now reverted to UTorrent.

Still a problem in MacOS Sierra (in both 10.12 commercial release and 10.12.1 beta) as of 27/9/2016. Also had to revert to uTorrent.
