Very Slow/Nonexistent Download Speeds
#1
Whenever I try to download a torrent, I consistently get max download speeds of 1-3 kB/s.  I have good settings and a plenty of seeders/peers and Vuze is always telling me that all the torrents are perfectly healthy (green smileys all around).  I have run the NAT/firewall test within the Vuze client and I have also used the Glasnost test to see if my ISP is throttling my connection, both of which indicated that nothing was wrong.  I have given as many permissions as possible to the Vuze client but nothing seems to work.  Even turning off my firewall has no effect.  I used to use uTorrent until I suddenly got extremely slow download speeds, so I decided to switch to Vuze, only to find the same problem which leads me to believe that the client is not the source of the issue.

I also ran the Vuze network connection test which went perfectly except for one line that read "(LS 18) Outbound connection fail: end of stream on socket read".  I am not sure what this means but I think it may be the problem, however, Google searches have turned up nothing helpful.

I have been trying to solve this problem myself but I am out of ideas and none of the other forum posts are of any use.  Please help!!

As you say, if the problem exists with multiple clients then it sounds like you have general network issues - perhaps ISP interference. Then again, you're still getting some download speed so things aren't blocked entirely.

Can you try testing with this torrent?

It should give good xfer rates. If it does then it would seem to be something specific to your existing downloads. If it doesn't then you really do have some network issues!

Thanks for the quick response!

Unfortunately, the torrent you provided is still giving me download speeds of only 1-3 kB/s.  However, on other programs like Steam and Origin, I have consistent speeds greater than 2 MB/s, so it seems that the problem only affects my torrenting software.

Maybe you could ask your ISP if they are throttling bittorrent and tell them you are trying to download that torrent
