Upgraded to 5.6.0.0 and won't launch windows 8.1
#1
I've been a Vuze user for years with no issues. Tonight I started Vuze and it first of all updated to 5.5.0.0. Before I had a chance to reboot it then downloaded the update to 5.6.0.0. All appeared find. Now I rebooted the PC (I'm on Windows 8.1) and everything works fine except I cannot launch Vuze. After clicking there is no sign of Vuze in the task manager. Trying to uninstall Vuze via the control panel also doesn't work. Not sure what to do now?? Can someone please advise.

I also have had the same issue but reinstalling does not fix the problem. i was promted to update yesterday and then again today . i figured i must have cancelled the previous install so i agreed to update again. cant open from the shortcut, the file location or run as administrator. i tried to uninstall through the control panel but couldnt even do that. tried reinstalling from vuze.com and restarted my computer and unfortunately nothing  PLEASE HELP ASAP!!!

The most likely cause of launch failure is a mismatch between the architecture of your Java runtime and that of Vuze.

If you open a command prompt and type

java -version

it will tell you if you have a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Java installed

One thing you can try is to grab the other version (i.e. if it says 32-bit grab the 64-bit installer) from

http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk8-downloads-2133151.html

The 32-bit installer is named

jdk-8u40-windows-i586.exe

and the 64-bit

jdk-8u40-windows-x64.exe

Note that there is a check box you need to tick to accept the license agreement,

Sadly that doesn't seem to be it. I don't get that error message and I have confirmed everything is 64bit version. I am a bit lost really. I have reinstalled the application but with no success. Strangely I can't even remove it :(

I basically have the exact same issue as causisayso

Try explicitly installing 64-bit Vuze from

http://sourceforge.net/projects/azureus/...oad?nowrap

Same here. Can't launch Vuze after upgrading. Just NOTHING happens. No loading, no error message. Plain nothing. Strange.  Same thing with installing again. I downloads and than just nothing. Never had that problem! Can the others with the same problem check the JAVA version please? www.java.com/verify In Chrome this won't work. In IE it does. I have no idea if this related to the Vuze problem though!?

What didn't work?  Did the installer not finish?  Did you get the same error?  The only other thing I can think of is to restart your computer and then try the installer.  There may be some files locked that the installer just can't write to
