So for some reason, and this is frustrating the HELL out of me as I have a 100 megabit connection, after selecting unlimited in the gui of vuze, and then clicking on the download speed again, unlimited is not selected, and there's a slightly higher download limit set. 8 megabytes a second being wasted normally. I have installed no plugins, I have 0 set in the global limits, no setting I have found would seem to explain this behaviour. I like vuze and prefer it to other clients, however if I have to spend 5x longer downloading something because vuze wants to limit it (and not my upload) I will have to switch clients. Please help

The only thing I know that messes with download speed limits in a 'vanilla' install of Vuze is some logic to prevent you from selecting extremely low upload rates (from memory, if you select an upload limit < 5KB/sec the download speed limit is set to double that). There's also an 'auto' setting that can temporarily mess with limits while trying to estimate your bandwidth limits.
However, if you manually set your upload rate to, say, 100 KB/sec, the download rate shouldn't be limited.
If you are already doing this you could try
1) going to the Tools menu, selecting 'Speed Limits->View Current...' and check the information shown to see if any limits are in place
2) going to the Help menu and selecting 'Advanced->Show Configuration Changes...' to see if there's anything obvious there
