Ummm... no "active" category? or "finished" category? In linux...

Thumbs Down
So, I'm switching to ubuntu, and I installed the linux version of vuze.  Magnet links still don't work in chrome, but besides that-

In the left panel there's no "active" column. Or "finished", like there is in windows.  Um....... I have changed any settings.  So, am I to understand that the linux version of vuze doesn't support that?  I mean, the left column has like 5 out of the 20 categories that the windows version has.  I thought this was written in java.  So why is it so drammatically different with so little features (not just the left panel but elsewhere) than the windows version has?

Latest version of ubuntu (vanilla, not a variant, and not beta; Unity).

This can't be real. This is ridiculous.  If you were running ubuntu would you use vuze? And if not, what client would be better than this unusable skeleton?

The Linux version is pretty much identical to the Windows one. Are you on version 5.7.5?

Thank you for replying- I installed ubuntu three days ago, and the linux vuze yesterday. So whatever version it is.

Well here, I just checked-

Java 1.8.0_121 (64 bit)
 Oracle Corporation
/usr/lib/jvm/java-8-openjdk-amd64/jre
SWT v4716, gtk/3.18.9
Linux v4.8.0-41-generic, amd64
V5.7.5.0/4 az3

Damn, none of the icons in this let me attach a screenshot.... I took one...

Hmm, OK, well go to Tools->Options and make sure you set your Mode to Advanced.

You can individually enable some of the other tags in the sidebar by going to the 'Tags Overview' (see View menu) and then double clicking the tags you want.

Yea, ok I added some of the columns in thanks.

In general the user interface isn't even the same- there's not a "force start" green arrow icon when you right click.  This is all very different. -I'm just pointing out it's clearly not the same codebase. The settings fields/menus are different too...

Actually I'm noticing that even the colors are different... Or missing.

you need to make sure your 'mode' isn't 'beginner' to see the force-start icon.

And it is exactly the same codebase - feel free to compare the Azureus2.jar that comes with Windows/OSX/Linux...

Vuze uses SWT as its graphics library, this uses native widgets on each platform to render the UI. Therefore there will be differences in the way controls appear on different platforms. To add to the complexity there are two GTK libraries on linux - SWT has been migrating from using GTK2 to GTK3 and only recently has GTK 3 become stable enough for us to use.

I see.  Yea, turning off beginner fixed the force start.

Although- the fact that all the columns aren't showing up compared to the windows version.... I don't see how that's caused by the library?

(Again, I can't exactly "complain", I'm just, like, pitching in some info here.)

(And for the life of me I can't get magnet links to work- I followed like every wiki page and forum post, and it still won't work, and I'm an advanced level LAMP developer. But anyway, I'll start that in another post.)

Anyway, the default column list is skeletal. Hell, less than skeletal.  Wish I could post screencaps, (actually I can reboot into win 10 and cap that too.)
