Soulution for torrents that won't download unless Vuze is restarted
#1
I've got my RSS feeds working well now, however I've noticed that sometimes a torrent won't download unless I restart Vuze. Mind you, other torrents will be doing just fine d/l at 4 mb/s or so, and then there will be one with lots of seeds that just sits there with a red unhappy face. Once I restart though, everything downloads fine.

I'm using a proxy provided by PIA, so I'm thinking that's the issue. What's the best way to handle this so everything will download automatically? Is there a plugin that will restart vuze every 6 hours or so to catch any lingering torrents that have gotten stuck? Or is there maybe a better solution?

I do use the RSS feeds but not that much so my experience is a little limited but let me try to help anyhow.

When you notice the stuck state . . . how long has the torrent been available?

Is the time that the torrent been available more or less than the schedule check interval you set up?

The only time I have had a similar issue is when:

1) The available time is less the check interval
2) There was a temporary problem with the site that I automatically download from

In the case of #1 I just wait it out . . . or I right click on the subscription and choose "update now"
In the case of #2 the only thing that has worked for me was manually downloading the .torrent file from the torrent site in question.

Maybe rebooting Vuze would work . . . but I hate doing that so I have never tried.  LOL

I haven't checked the forum in a while but I found a solution. The Beta version of Vuze has an auto restart feature. I have mine set to restart every 30 mins. I also installed the the auto starter/deleter plugin. Everything is completley automated now and when I come home from work everthing is done, put in the right folder and ready to watch. No more messing with stuff to get it to work right :)

Well I am glad you found something that works.

The problem with that approach is that with the way the Torrent protocol is written the more/longer you seed the more preferred you are as a peer.  So by restarting Vuze every 30 mintues (or whatever) you are decreasing the likelihood of becoming one of the preferred seeders.  Now if the torrent site in question is a public site where ratios are not tracked or you have a big ratio buffer on a private site that is not a problem . . . but if you are having difficulty maintain a ratio at a private site . . . I would not recommend that solution!

Thanks for the tip. I'm not using any private trackers right now. But if I do, then you are right, and I'll probably set it to restart every 6 hours.

Can anyone help me? I've downloaded vuze on my lenovo android tablet seemed to download fine, I've gone to kickass torrents gone to Dowload a torrent and it never opens with vuse I just get an add pop up on my Google play all I'm so confused?!? I've tried to download so many different torrents and the same thing happens nothing ever opens in vuze and starts downaloding. What's going on?!

I think the solution is to simply hit the back button in the browser and try to download the torrent again.  The download torrent button only triggers the advertisement re-direct the first time you try to download the magnet-link/.torrent file.

I so rarely use public sites that I do not pay very close attention to everything I have read about them.  I seem to remember reading somewhere that there are certain URL's you can use to access KAT (KickAss Torrents) that do not do the auto-redirect to an advertisement but I have no idea what the URL might be.

Vuze and Bit-Che

Have always used bit-che as my torrent searcher. I double-click on wanted torrent in bit-che and it automatically opens the torrent window in azureus. For some unknown reason, bit-che and azureus no longer function properly together. Instead it opens a second azureus program which it shouldn't. If I shut-down azureus, then bit-che will open azureus and load the torrent onto azureus as it should. However, when I try to download another torrent from bit-che, the same problem occurs--a second azurius opens and the torrent fails to load. I must again shut down azureus completely to download the next torrent from bit-che.

Any ideas as to what may be causing this?
