Simplified Chinese tranlation
#1
Hi,

I don't like using forum, but in order to keep in line with the rules, I need to obey it.

I've done a mass overhaul of Simplified Chinese translation, I hope you can accept it and release it in the next version.

I'm not sure if I need to sign any agreements, but I'd like to keep my name in contributors, my name is Christopher Meng, and my email address is i.cicku@me (exchange . with @ if you understand).

The translation of core is nearly accomplished, the i18 plugin is being worked on, before I send out my translation of i18n plugin, I'd like to see my translation of core getting accepted into SVN.

Thanks.

Hi Christopher,

Thanks for the hard work. It has been a while since it has been updated!

As you probably know Vuze is released under GPL - your contribution would be included under this - is this OK with you?

If so I'll include it in the next beta release and make sure your name gets added to the list of translators - tell me what you think.

Thanks again,
Paul

I'm OK with GPL since I'm a long-time FOSS contributor.

Thank you.

PS. I'd like to see Vuze being hosted on GitHub or somewhere. I only found remote repo underneath Vuze GitHub account.

Thank you. I will update the translation based on the upcoming beta again.

BTW, I found some keys are empty (no references). Does it mean that string is obsoleted? Thanks.

Can you post a few examples and I'll take a look?

Thanks!

ah, yes, those resource strings have been removed from the main (english) bundle but are left over in the translated on - you can safely remove them (or ignore them!)

Ok, thanks for the hint. I'd expect automatical removal for trashes like this ;)

Also, it'd be better to merge same strings, because from the last translation I've done of Vuze I found that I need to translate some same strings again and again... That's exhausting.

Also, I found an invalid string:

ConfigView.label.openmytorrents:

Open '{library.name}' on startup

Whereas the label doesn't exist, I guess it should be '{library.name._vuze}'?

There are some contextual ones that automatically select a suffix based on what UI is running (and also what OS) - so the _vuze is automatically selected when running the 'Vuze UI' and _classic when running 'Classic'. For OS we have _windows and _mac.

Hope that makes sense!

I also hope that some strings could be improved, for foreigners they are just slangs:

ConfigTransferAutoSpeed.auto.speed.neural: Neural (Gudy Alpha)

Neural? Gudy?

Ah, that is a 'neural network' based auto speed system developed by one of the original Vuze developers called 'Gudy' - it never got beyond 'alpha' as it was experimental and should probably be removed entirely!

Sounds like a pre-experimental feature to me XDDD

I've downloaded the B07 and can see my translation now. Thanks for the merge.

Some other questions regarding strings:

1. Difference between transfer bar and download bar?

2. ColumnSetup.title should inherit the name like Column Setup for {sidebar.LibraryUnopened} but not Column Setup for %1. Also applies to {sidebar.Library} (since I can't come up with eternal string)

3. ConfigView.section.startstop only show the first reference, the second one can't be displayed.

4. mlDHT with string 'Node Estimate', however I can't translate it.

1)
The 'transfer bar' is a global widget that can be enabled via the Tools menu - it shows overall upload/download speed and the eta of the next download to complete - it is 'always on top' so is a useful summary indicator.

'download bar's are the equivalent but per-download. You can right-click on a download and select 'show download bar'. The bar shows up/down speed, percentage complete and eta.

2)
Not quite sure what you mean - the %1 will be substituted based on the resource strings for the titles of various tables (e.g. Column Setup for 'Incomplete Torrents')

sidebar.Library={library.name}

and

library.name._classic=My Torrents
library.name._vuze=Library

3)
What do you mean by the second reference can't be displayed?

ConfigView.section.startstop={ConfigView.label.start} & {ConfigView.label.stop}

4)
I'll add a resource string for that to the plugin

Thanks!

1) In Chinese I'd consider that these 2 bars are the same, because they show nearly the same.

2) I found that the English version of the key was displayed, instead of the translated one, so I'm not sure if %1 is right.

3) {ConfigView.label.stop} can't be displayed in hint area above the translation workspace:

Current:
-----------------------------------------------------------
ConfigView.section.startstop

{ConfigView.label.start} & {ConfigView.label.stop}

{ConfigView.label.start} => XXX
{ConfigView.label.start} => XXX
-----------------------------------------------------------

It should be:
-----------------------------------------------------------
ConfigView.section.startstop

{ConfigView.label.start} & {ConfigView.label.stop}

{ConfigView.label.start} => XXX
{ConfigView.label.stop} => YYY
-----------------------------------------------------------

4) Plus another untranslatable string in status bar warning icon:

Version %1 of plugin '%2' installed successfully

Thanks.
