Shared Drive Suddenly Missing
#1
I've been running Vuze on Windows 8.1 under VMWare for about a month (I'm a Linux/Mac guy who fights Windows only when needed).  For some reason, after this last update, Vuze has decided that it does not want to see the shared drive Z:, which it has been using for the last month.  I'm suddenly getting "Error: Data Missing: ..." for all of my torrents.  All of the Vuze data areas are mapped to the host Linux box as Z: in Windows which is available and fully accessible by Windows Explorer and everyone else.  For some reason Vuze is not seeing Z: any longer, it's not showing up on File Open dialogs within Vuze, and the torrents are not available.  It's like some mysterious permissions bit has been eaten by Windows just for Vuze.

This may be a Windows issue or a Vuze issue, but given that it started with B30, I'm guessing Vuze at this point.

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

There's nothing in B30 that could have caused this kind of issue (no changes to any file system stuff), so it can't be B30 itself (above B29) causing the issue.

Can't think what might be causing the permissions like issue you're seeing though ;(

Thanks for the quick reply.

The problem has resolved itself after I "repaired" VMWare Tools.  From the update logs it appears that on that same night Windows did an update on its own and I'm guessing that clobbered something in Tools.  I've turned off automatic updates so I can be aware of when these things happen.

Weird that it only seemed to affect some processes though - glad you found a fix!

I'll agree with that.  It was very confusing and the solution was mostly accidental.  I just remembered that Windows eats its chldren, so the fix was to repair any processes that might have been in the path.
