Second hard drive & panasonic viera
#1
Hi, I have been using vuze for about 3 years.  my main hard drive became full, so I went and purchased a usb desktop hard drive.  I am know downloading my content onto the new drive in vuze.  My issue is my panasonic viera smart tv will not see the second hard drive when I try to stream over my network with DLNA.  I have checked that file sharing is turned on to allow access to the files.  When I search the contents with my tv, I can only locate the files downloaded with vuze on my original hard drive.

Any help is greatly appreciated

thanks

Just so we're clear: when you say you are trying to stream over your network with DLNA, are you placing the files in Vuze Devices and then looking for them on your TV, or are you using a media server other than Vuze Devices to stream to your TV?

Thanks for the response Phorat,

Up till now I have been using my panasonic tv, hitting "viera tools" and clicking DLNA. I then get a menu that shows DLNA menue. I click on my home network, which then opens a sub menu and I click on movies which then populates the movies on my original hard drive only.

I do have a vuze server option, but when I click on that, it only shows a few movies even though there are over 300 movies in my vuze file on my computer. (in vuze, it does show my tv as a device). I would assume that my vuze settings are not configured properly. Would you be able to tell me or point me to a how to file to show how to set up vuze properly for video playback.

thanks

OK, so you're using your TV's DLNA to access the files directly.  However, while you're able to access the files on your internal hard drive, you don't see the files on the external USB hard drive.

You have turned on file sharing, but I'm wondering if you've fully set the permissions on your USB drive so that your TV can access the USB drive.  You may also need to set folder and file permissions on the USB external drive.  Make sure that Everyone has Full Control to the folders containing your music and videos (right click on the folder, select Properties, select the Security tab, click Edit, click Add, type in Everyone, click OK, tick Full Control, click OK again until you exit the properties window).  If you have a large number of files, it may take a little while for all the permissions to update.

You may have already done this, but I figured I'd mention it just to be sure.
