Scrape o.k. and Connection error

Hello, Forum Newbie here. 
I have been using Vuze for several years now, but recently I  changed to Win 10 (with problems) and had to re-download Vuze and start from scratch  with no Upload Ratio (I was previously on a ration of 1.7). 
My download speeds are fine, but I don't seem to be able to upload very fast and my Ratio is improving very slowly. 
I keep getting "scrape o.k." on my files (there are plenty of peers, but no smiley face on the majority, which are not uploading) and I am sometimes getting "Connection Error PRUDPP PacketHandlerException Unresolved host tracker.istole.it" on the few that ARE uploading.  I have 9 files (all with peers) but only 3 of them will upload.  I have never had this before.
Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

This sounds to me like a problem with that specific tracker.  Are you still getting that [connection error . . . ] status message?  Scrape ok is what you want to see by the way . . . in the most simple terms that is just an indication that everything is operating as expected.

Also your ratio is not tied to your torrent client it is tied to the ratio driven site to which you are a member of.  Yes once you download a new version of Vuze . . . Vuze will start your ratio back at zero but that is not what matters it is your ratio at the site in question which matters which is stored by that site.  If you are on ratio driven trackers the site stores your ratio and that is the ratio that matters not the ratio shown in your torrent client.

Having said that the tracker istole.it is a public tracker (not a ratio driven tracker) and ratios are not recorded at all.  It does not matter if your ratio is 0.000 or 5,000.00 there are no ramifications to having a bad ratio at a public tracker.

Thanks very much for the explanation GaryE.  My connection errors (there were 3 or 4) seem to have disappeared, but the 'scrape o.k.' is still showing on torrents that aren't uploading, even though there are peers available; whilst the ones that are trying to seed have no peers available and are at the moment in blue.  Why wouldn't it switch to the ones that have peers available? 

My downloads are fine, I just don't want to be dubbed as a 'leecher' when I carefully upload eveything that I have downloaded at least 1.5 times.  When I talk about ratio, I am referring to the button at the bottom next to the NAT OK button, which I thought was my ratio of upload and download within Vuze itself, or is it from KAT which is where I get the torrents from?

You are welcome!

If you are using public sites like KAT your ratio is not recorded by the site.  You only have to worry about ratio on private torrent sites.  It is great that you are trying to give back more than you take though!

That share ratio OK light indicates your global ratio on all of your sites combined within Vuze only.  Vuze does not querry the site to see what your actual site wide ratio is or whatever.  So that light only indicates your ratio since the last time you did a fresh install of Vuze.  So if you had previously downloaded 1 TB and you had uploaded 1.5 TB and then you moved to a new computer and did not transfer over your statistics (before you ask no I can not talk you through that the one time I did it someone else on a now defunct site talked me through it) your stats start all over again . . . so that buffer you had on your previous installation of Vuze is gone.  You are starting over.

Honestly, just look at the newest torrents you have downloaded since you switched computers . . . make sure those individual torrents have a ratio in excess of 1.000 and you will be doing just fine!

I feel much better; right now I only have one Connection Error (which comes and goes) and one Scrape OK.  All the others are uploading well.  Once again, many thanks.

One of the aspects of my former job was as the final Technical Editor for all official documents my company put out.  You learn how to write clearly when you have that kind of task.  It is a matter of practice.

You would think that in today's society where so many of us get and share highly technical information in forums similar to this one . . . that folks would in general be better at communicating technological information clearly but if anything it seems to be getting more rare to find folks who are able to do so consistently.  I do not get it but that is a discussion for a different day and a different forum.
