SSL Announce
#1
Hello,

Was getting "SocketException Unexpected end of file from server" error.
Solution: disable SSL requirement on the tracker side and change announces in VUZE from https:// to http://.

While using this fix that took care of the error, I am wondering why https:// SSL announce is not working in my installation of Vuze (latest build).
I like the idea of https://.  How do I make VUZE work with https:// announce?

Thanks and best wishes.

I am still wondering why SSL announce is not working in my installation of VUZE.

I just received the following reply from another forum, from an user whose Linux installation does work with SSL announce:
"https tracker working fine here using Vuze 5.6 / Java 1.8 / Linux, I didn't change any setting to get it working."

I have tried again changing the announce from http:// to https:// and, indeed, on my machine, I instantly get the error
"SocketException Unexpected end of file from server"

So either https:// announce gives in error under Windoes 7, or there is something in my installation that does not allow for https:// announce.

If there are no users on this forum who have experience with this, could someone at least point me to how I can contact the people who make VUZE (I haven't been able to figure it out).

Thanks and best wishes,

I am not sure . . . I am not very knowledgeable about SSL issues but could this be a self-signed certificate kind of issue.  Like you have to manually accept the self signed certificate?

AS with GaryE, I also am not knowledgable on SSL issues.

Firstly, I encourage you to check the Vuze Wiki setup Guide:  http://wiki.vuze.com/w/UG_Options  and determine if your settings are within the parameters suggested.

Secondly, take a "snip" of the following 3 pages from Vuze options. (1) Connections, 1st page.   (2) Tracker > Client   (3) Tracker > Server ,  and post as attachments.
After you post the snips, I'll respond asap.  Don't forget to check the Community Wiki.

Lastly, try to gain the attention of "parg" who is on the development team and regularly attends this forum.

Thank you so much!
I'll do (check settings and post snips) at the first free time opportunity.
