"Quit Vuze" not working on Mac OS Yosemite

Vuze has slowed down considerably when changing settings etc since upgrading to the latest Mac OS 10.10 (Yosemite) I always get the spinning coloured ball for 20 seconds or so but the main issue is Vuze refuses to quit when selecting it from the menu, the only solution it to use "force quit" from the Finder. I tried reinstalling a fresh copy but still have the same issue.
