from within Vuze or using your OS?
Which OS? Which version of that OS? Which version of Vuze?

Ok so let me see if I have this right.
You download the .torrent file (or magnet link or whatever) You open the .torrent file (or magnet link or whatever) . . . you select the download location of your external drive . . . and it just does not work? Do I have that right? Do you get an error messages? Check the lower right hand corner of your Vuze window for error messages and the tracker status column of Vuze. I have to say I have never heard of a problem like this. So I am at a bit of a loss. I guess it could be a permissions problem . . . but it has been so long since I have used Windows and I do not have access to a Windows computer . . . so I do not feel comfortable trying to talk you through checking that. If you need help with that let us know and hopefully someone can help (or you could always google it LOL).

Maybe I'm going about this in the wrong way and have not figured it out with new version of Vuze. Can you suggest the best way to upload torrents to drive? THX

I am clearly not understanding you.
Are you talking about moving the .torrent file? Or the torrent data? Or what? You should not be dragging anything anywhere after you load the .torrent file in to Vuze. If you want the torrent data on the external drive . . . just choose the location on your external drive when you add the .torrent file to Vuze. If you are using your default download folder (which is somewhere other than your external HDD) and then you wait until the torrent is done downloading . . . before you move the file . . . Right click on the torrent on the window that pops up . . . choose Content near the top of the window to the left of center in that menu select "Move Data Files" In the dialogue window that pops up . . . select the external drive and whatever subdirectory (if any) where you want the data located Then click Open and Vuze will move the files for you. The problem with this method is that if you are moving the data from your internal drive to your external drive . . . the data will still exist on your internal drive . . . so it is not the best method. the best method would be to select the external drive when you first add the .torrent file to Vuze. That way you will not have two copies of the data on your system. If this is not what you are asking . . . please be more specific. I recognize that English is probably not your primary language (assuming I am correct I have to say that you do a heck of a lot better with written English than I do in my second language!) so use an on line translator if you need to because I am just not exactly clear about what you are asking.

Gary,
I went to the library and found a 13 year old to show me how to solve my problem. It's funny you perceive me as a foreigner when in fact I have been an American for 65 years. Computers are not a big part of my life. My problem is the lack of technical knowledge and as you can see I reached my limit of competence. Sorry for the confusion and thanks so much for your attempt at resolving this issue. Maybe you will hear from me again when the next version of Vuze comes out.

LOL well it is not the first time I have gotten that wrong LOL
The bottom line is that I am glad you got a solution to your problem. Very glad to hear that! |
