PS4 Media Center
#1
Information
I am using a cable internet connection and my computer is connected over a wireless internet.

So with the PS4 media center update earlier this week, I was under the impression that we are supposed to be able to use dlna services with the ps4 now. Vuze is my favorite program to use currently on my other devices and it works pretty much flawlessly with the Xbox360 etc. I read the wiki and saw the message " Initial release missing DLNA support; 2015/06/06 Update - see http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2015/06/1...ps4-today/" but Vuze shows up on my playstation 4. I just can't see the PS4 in Vuze. Does this mean that Vuze simply needs to patch or is this a Sony issue? I have been searching the internet just about everyday since the ps4 patch hit and have found nothing useful, but have also seen that other people that enjoy Vuze have been wondering the same thing. I apologize if this is not the place for this question or if it has already been clearly answered and I was just unable to find it, but any clarification would be appreciated as I would really prefer to avoid downloading something like Plex which seems to be what most people suggest. If there is something that I can configure to fix this or if it is going to be patched soon please email me or post instructions on here.

Thank you for your time

Thumbs Down
So I emailed Vuze about a week ago and got no response. Looks like they don't care, or don't have enough people to monitor customer support. Guess I'm just gonna find another service to use since there still seems to be no news on this.

I didn't get any emails - why email when you can just post whatever it is you have to say here?

Can you join the beta program (http://wiki.vuze.com/w/Beta_Program) if you're not already in it, go to the PS4 and attempt to browser Vuze content, then go to Vuze and generate a 'debug.zip' via the Help menu's last option and send it over to paul@vuze.com? I'll see if there's any clues there.

Thanks - I'm trying to work out what messages are coming from the PS4 - do you happen to know its IP address?

After updating to the beta did you go to the PS4 and try and browse the Vuze content? All I see is

[17:42:30] /192.168.0.5:53570: browseReceived: {connection=close, host=192.168.0.5:61573, status=GET /RootDevice.xml HTTP/1.1, accept=text/html, image/gif, image/jpeg, *; q=.2, */*; q=.2, user-agent=Azureus 5.6.1.3_B08, accept-encoding=gzip}

[17:42:31] /192.168.0.8:1443: browseReceived: {connection=close, host=192.168.0.5:61573, status=GET /RootDevice.xml HTTP/1.1, accept=*/*, user-agent=Mozilla/4.0 (compatible)}

This is also interesting:

[20:14:27] UPnP: root discovered: usn=uuid:NFPS4-001-WWXM0JHRY03H76KKE20Q1R4NTR::upnp:rootdevice, location=http://192.168.0.3:40001, ni=en1,local=/192.168.0.5
[20:14:27]   Downloading: http://192.168.0.3:40001
[20:14:27] Failed to parse XML from :http://192.168.0.3:40001: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: Content is not allowed in prolog., Fatal Error: URI=null Line=1: Content is not allowed in prolog.

I'm guessing that NFPS4-001-.... is the PS4. Here Vuze is trying to read the PS4's UPnP device description that appears to be invalid - if you open a browser and go to

http://192.168.0.3:40001

what is returned?

Thanks for doing that - unfortunately there's nothing exciting in the logs :(

Is your PS4 on 192.168.0.2 ? There are some 'browse' actions in the logs that show no entries being returned.

You could try two things:

1) right-click on the Device Playback entry in the sidebar and enable 'show generic devices'

Then see if a device appears in the sidebar that might correspond to the PS4 and if so drag some content to it and see if it is visible on the PS4 (dunno about transcode profiles at the moment)

2) enable general visibility of content on devices by going to Tools->Options->Plugins->Media Server and enabling 'Publish all media by default...'

Again, see if the PS4 shows anything

Hey Parg,

Works now, thanks! I went the next step and uninstalled the beta version and installed normally and the below steps worked seamlessly.

I can tell you doing this:

"1) right-click on the Device Playback entry in the sidebar and enable 'show generic devices'

Then see if a device appears in the sidebar that might correspond to the PS4 and if so drag some content to it and see if it is visible on the PS4 (dunno about transcode profiles at the moment)

2) enable general visibility of content on devices by going to Tools->Options->Plugins->Media Server and enabling 'Publish all media by default...' "

Under device playback;

(VUZE LOGO) - VUZE on XXXXX-MACORWINDOWS-PCorPRO

Right click and Rename "PS4" to avoid confusion! Renaming the media servers to the correct devices, evidently went wrong somewhere.

Interesting - it is probably the 'publish all media' change that has fixed things, the 'VUZE on XXXX' device most likely isn't the PS4, rather it Vuze discovering its own media server.

Version 0.8.6 of the Vuze Transcoder plugin has just been released to beta program users - it should detect the PS4 and show it in the Vuze sidebar.
