"Open Fails: File not found" error on network drive
#1
Currently on utilzing vuze 5.5.0 on a win 7 machine. I download my torrents via rssfeedscanner. The download directory is on a drobo attached to my imac. This has been working fine for quite some time. Tonight I went to manually add a new torrent while others were already downloading from the rss feeds and at some point after the download started I got the error: Open Fails File not found (\\IMAC\\full path\\)

It also noted after listing the full path, that the file was in use by another application. Not sure what would be using it. I restarted the windows box a couple of times just to be sure it wasn't windows mapping the drive incorrectly. Then for some reason many of my already downloaded files started popping up in to the "downloading" section returning the same error. But some of them kept seeding just fine.

What would happen is that the status field would say allocating 0.0% and then a minute or so later would return the error. But if I removed one of the not fully downloaded torrents and then re-added it, then it would begin downloading fine. But then restart vuze and the same error occurs.

My last thought is to restart the iMac but that needs to wait until I am done with a backup. Also I recently updated to the most recent vuze release so not sure if it is related. This is not one of the known issues.

Java 1.6.0_43
 Sun Microsystems Inc.
SWT v4508, win32
Windows 7 v6.1, amd64
V5.5.0.0/4 az2

I'll edit tomorrow if after the imac restart I get anything different.

The 'file already in use' kind of issue can occur if you have an anti-virus application that jumps in and starts scanning files before they are complete, locking other apps out. Not sure if it could affect a remote drive though.

Hmm interesting thought about the antivirus. I'll double check that the drive is excluded from scans.

An update: Restarting the imac seemed to help for about 12 hours. I am getting other erros though as well now. Previous to the most recent vuze update I would disk read errors occasionally. That didn't surprise me with it being a network drive. I just forced a re-check and all good.

The new error that I'm getting now is: Resume data save fails: Flush fails, read - file is closed

And I have a repeat of the previous error. The rest of that error text is this: (the process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process) (allocate files existing:\\Imac\full path\)

I'll check into the anti-virus angle at some point tonight.

Thanks for the input.
