Hello :)
I just updated vuze and used of course the custom install and declined every additional program. The only component that I installed was the update itself. Within 5 minutes of installing the update my malware program began sending me alarms every few minutes and stating that the issue was with Vuze. Has anyone else experienced this issue?? If I can't find a way to remove the "offending" update I will have to use an alternate program instead of Vuze.

Yep. Same here but i think you must have missed a checkbox. Now that Vuze includes clandestine installers for browser hijackers I cannot support this program any more. After years of faithful service, i can no longer trust it so it is 10 seconds away from uninstallation. Effective advertising guys, way to go., you alienated a long time customer and contributor.

I am fairly certain that I checked all the boxes but it's really terrible that you have to worry about missing a bit of the fine print. I am also deleting Vuze.

I have registered on this site purely to post this. I have navigated this issue with Vuze for quite a while, ever since I got caught out by the Spigot add-ons. So I, too, always decline the offered extras. Did that this time but the installer still managed surreptitiously to switch Firefox search prefs from Google to Yahoo, including the addition of a 404 error handler to take me straight to Yahoo. Elsewhere I have seen this described as "theft" of preferences, but it is mostly referred to "hijacking". Both imply illegality. It has taken me some time this morning to excise this malware.
I like Vuze. I like its efficiency and clarity. But I won't be downloading any further updates. Shame on you Vuze. And shame on Yahoo for these tactics in their futile battle with Google.

Looks like the ad box in Vuze for 'free' use is now spamming JS downloads. They could use a bit more discretion in their ad partners.

If you use Windows, when installing, in the first window select the option "Customize" and then follow carefully, unchecking the undesirable options or/and selecting the "Decline" option.

I echo the words of Havokdan. I did the full upgrade today and chose custom install, declined all offers. I use Win 7 with all recommended updates and vuze is singing nicely.

Today I had the same issue. I am no noob to "customize" installs and I upgraded today, clicked customize, and decined EVERYTHING that showed up and now my browsers are set to Yahoo.... I am absolutely 100% certain I declined everything. Is there any way to tell what other crap this thing installed. Can anyone from Vuze comment on this?

Usually changing homepage in browsers should be "Unchecked" and not "Decline". Anyway, here I reinstalled when he left the Vuze 5.6.2.0 version and have not had any problems following the steps already indicated above, the Windows 10 x64 Pro.

Redid the facility here again, from the start, erasing the remnants of Vuze and installing again, it is noteworthy that the Vuze does not always show the exact adware options in the installer, in the example/experience I had to take the test this time, did not show up no option to be unchecked, only to be declined.

The same for me. There was no option to "uncheck" only decline which I 100% absolutely did. The attached image is the only Yahoo option shown to me on install. [Image: s7bv4bp.png]

Well, as I showed above, in my case, it worked perfectly, really do not know what might be happening specifically with you, I can not reproduce the situation here and without it I would not be able to proceed in trying to help you.

I too got caught out by that Spigot shit. What a timely expense that was getting rid of that garbage!!
I've had no issues with the latest update unless you own a Samsung tv. Vuze no longer streams to my TV. The TV doesn't see Vuze anymore :/

I too registered for this same reason, being on a MAC instead of Windows I have run into the same situation, changes all my browsers to YAHOO and I run my Adare Medic app to find all the "Extras" the isntall puts in there... It's crap. I use to love this program but slowly it has become slow and useless even searching the simplest things... No thanks...

Vuze is now a malware installer. Don't use Vuze. Even if you are clever enough to tell it not to install spigot malware one should not trust any company that does this to is't users.
