Java 9 issue, failing to load, +Firefox magnet link setup failing
#1
Azureus/Vuze failing to load with the NEW Java v9 :(
Fixed with the work around, declare new environment variable.
EXE4J_JAVA_HOME = %ProgramFiles%\Java\jre-9\

2nd issue is Firefox magnet link support continues FAIL with same error popup
:(  requesting user to define "EXE4J_JAVA_HOME"

I checked Firefox  settings, the links still pointed to Azureus.exe so all is well there...

A restart of Firefox didn't help either again..

I also searched the Windows registry to find if it was broken some where in relations to Firefox, but nothing stood out at first glance...

any know fixes or workarounds?
the only workaround I figured out is to manually copy and paste the magnet link into Azureus/Vuze...

The forum's quote button not working for me.

Melchior:

"

Note: EXE4J_JAVA_HOME="C:\Program Files\Java\jre-9" does not work, although the quoted path form works fine with dozens of other things, including Java 8, go figure.

Confirm: %ProgramFiles%\Java\jre-9 seems to work ok as does %ProgramFiles%\Java\jdk-9 .

I used sysdm.cpl run from an Administrator cmd.exe.

As for Firefox, simply exit and restart the browser so that it picks up the new env seemed to work for me.  Magnets now working.

However, now I get a "Failed to install DNS manager" error... an error for another post.

Since Spiggot sacked their main developer, these forums seem to rely on the goodwill of ONLY other users.  I suggest you UPGRADE to BiglyBT and enjoy what is essentially the same client with more features and in constant development by one of the original Azureus developers.  Plus, there are dedicated support chat channels built into the client and during the install process, you can easily migrate all of your Vuze/Azureus settings/statistics and torrents to the BiglyBT client.

I run over 3,000 torrents, so don't worry, the client will handle your torrents with ease and I had no problems with the migration of settings and torrents. It was all seamless. BBT looks the same as Vuze and it is legal because they (BBT, Vuze, Bit-Tyrant, OneSwarm) are all based on Azureus under a GPL License.
