I don't want spigot - bad form VUZE
#1
I've used VUZE for years, but on reinstalling on a fresh windows install I spotted the rocket tab nuisanceware but spigot bypassed me due to the very very small print.  VUZE has never done this to me before and I am very disappointed.  I had to do a system restore to get rid of spigot and it totally screwed my firefox tab syncing.

Somehow spigot seems at total odds with the idea ofopen source free software.

Updating Vuze caused major trouble with my Firefox install. All my tabs were closed and several plugins lost all their settings.

Bad Vuze.

Yes spigot installs malware on macs.  it hits Safari, Firefox, and Chrome.  Not sure about others.  Anyone know how to uninstall it from those 3 platforms?

before you begin the Vuze install, select "Custom Install" and that will allow all the "Partner offers" (free additional software) pages to appear so that the install of the free software can then be declined and only the Vuze client will then be installed.  The "Partner offers" is the way by which Vuze is made available for free, so if you decline the free software, consider donating or buying the premium version.

I don't know if it's true, but on wikipedia it's rumoured that the Spygot owns the Vuze Inc.
But anyway it's a bug, as I'm a Windows user, as already mentioned above, the problem does not occur if you select "Custom Installation" and clears or mark "Decline" to the proposed installation of third party software.

Thanks for that piece of info Havokdan. Yes, Wikipedia does claim that and although I'm not going to put my neck on the block and state that everything in Wiki is verbatim, SPYgot (Spigot) probably does own the Vuze platform and that would explain all the "developmental" work we've seen on vuze over the last 6 years, but alas, beggars can't be choosers!
