I'm new to Vuze, and I've read and searched but can't find an answer.
I can't find preferences on my PC to set VLC as my default player. How do I do that?
Thanks!

It depends on your operating system. In Windows 7, click on the Start button in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen. This will bring up a menu. One of the menu options is "Default Programs." Clicking on Default Programs will open a dialog box that contains several options, including "Set your default programs" and "Associate a file type or protocol with a program." You can use either of these options to set VLC as your default media player. I prefer to use the second option (Associate a file type...), as it allows me to choose which specific file types should be associated with each specific application.
Thus, if you want to make VLC the default player for .mp4 (say), scroll down until you find .mp4 in the list of file types, highlight it and then click on the button "Change program..." This will cause another dialog box to open that displays the programs available on your computer that can play .mp4's. Choose "VLC media player" and click OK. Do this for the other file types that you want VLC to play (e.g., .mkv, .mpg, etc.). Close the windows when you're finished, and then see if the VLC icon is now displayed for the video files that you associated with VLC.
I don't know how to do it on Windows 8 - I am avoiding that abomination like the plague.
