Error closing and incomplete downloads disappear

I've just reinstalled Vuze Plus and find that incomplete downloads disappear when I shut down and reopen Vuze. I also get at message indicating a faulty shutdown. On quickly browsing the logs I found the following 2 indicators:
1.
Process exited with an error: 1(Exit value: 1)
2.
Signature update failed - consecutive=1

I can't for the world of me figure this out. Can anyone help me?
