Can't open search files suddenly. Says "doesn't appear to be a torrent file"

I suddenly can't download anything.  All my searches pull up the usual lists of options/Torrent files, but when I click to download I get a "Could not open 'xxxxx' file (whatever the long file number is) torrent.  It doesn;t appear to be a torrent file."  Help?
