#1
Hi All
I downloaded some video files BluRay .mkv ,  but I am only able to play them on my PC with Vuze HD Player , not any other program  ie : VLC ,Total Video Player , 5K Player , Wondershare DVD Creator , etc,etc . they all say they can not play that file , but it plays with Vuze HD Player ok , I also tried to convert them with some programs , Wondershare DVD Creator , Handbrake , Total Video Convertor , also all of them can not open the file ! .
Any idea what the prob could be ! .cheersspike

Hmm, don't use the inbuilt Vuze player, but VLC uses inbuilt codecs, so that should play everything.  If you're using Windows (can't help with other OS), have you gone to Control panel > default programs and selected the default media player to use and selected the default codecs for that player to use (open).

AS for the other players, u might try installing the K-Lite MEGA Codec pack. That codec pack also gives you the option of installing Media Player Classic Home Cinema (MPC-HC) as well as assigning the codecs for use with that player, Windows Media player, or another player of your choice via a pop-up browse dialog box (to select a player that is not listed) during the initial options setup just prior to install.

During the initial install setup, there will be 3 small pages of codec options. Just click "select all" for both audio and video codecs when that choice is presented to you!

Fool-proof really!

ps. another player that I've tried recently with inbuilt codecs is SM Player, nice gui, worked OK, but I've chosen to stay with what I know, MPC-HC.

Spike, I am having the EXACT SAME PROBLEM right now.  Went to play the a video folder with VLC as usual, and began having problems. The first episode began to play and - 60 seconds in, froze and restarted from the beginning. I have not tried any of the other episodes with VLC. Then I tried the last episode. Episode 15 (of 15) plays perfectly with the built in VUZE player, but as far as any other player goes, the file may as well be empty!

If this helps any... this is a full season of an old tv show that has both Russian and English audio. It claims to be MKV files ripped from a Blue Ray disk. I did download the 5K Player but that did not work either.

What is it about the Vuze player that it can play these files, when none of the other media players can?
