Another Copy of Fuze Appears to be Running - Mac
#1
Hi,

I have been searching the forums and came across a few instances of the above but nothing that is the same as mine, and nothing that fixed the issue.

Everyhting has been working great until today when I got a pop up about Java, although must be honest, I didn't get the screen shot.

I restarted with no joy. I unistalled, reinstalled then got an error as follows:
/Users/myname/Library/Application Support/Vuze/custom/installer.config
Could not create the file. Shall I try again.

I clicked Yes many times but it dodn't work, so I clicked No. Installation completed.

Thereafter every time I start Vuze I get:
Another Copy of Vuze appears to be running: failed to lock file
/Users/myname/Library/Application Support/Vuze/.azlock
See the wiki for more information
Vuze will now close.

I tried the wiki but I have to say it was a little above me and I didn't understand what it said.

I am running El Capitan OSX 10.11.3

Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Sounds as if your user is having problems writing to

/Users/myname/Library/Application Support/Vuze/

Check the permissions on that folder?

I am suffering exactly the same problems on a MAC running El Capitan. The Vuze installation programme is obviously at fault since the installation fails if you do not answer NO to the file creation question. The workaround for the subsequent Multiple running message does not work, or I am applying it incorrectly in Terminal, which would not be surprising since I am a typical computer usaer, not a programmer.
This all started when Vuze sold its soul to Yahoo and installed hidden viruses to change default search engine etc.
This is the way a successful programme can destroy itself. These problems have been aired for long enough for Vuze to have resolved problems obviously of their making.
Meanwhile I have converted to Deluge.

I just signed up to the forum in the hopes of giving back a bit as I've always generally found whatever help I may need on the internet. After having the exact same issue as you, searching around endlessly and getting nowhere I installed another client only to find a solution right after. I was looking for the .azlock file that seemingly didn't exist, at which point I began looking into how to conduct a full uninstall. On the Vuze Wiki uninstall page I saw you could do a full reset of the user settings by deleting the Vuze folder from your Application Support folder. Since I was ready to switch over to another client I gave it a go and lo and behold I was back in business immediately. The whole reason I was trying to manually upgrade to the latest version was due to a connection error that crept up mid-download about a month ago locking me out of all downloads but I suspect there was a bigger problem at play. Also if you are unsure how to get to Application Support, it's in the hidden by default Library folder. Apple+tab over to Finder, click Go in the menu bar, hold down option and Library will pop up allowing you to access the Application Support.

Hope this helps and everyone who is having the same issue can get back up and running.

Hi guys,

I am a MAC user and have upgraded to OSX 10.10 Yosemite.

I had the same problem. After much research, I resorted to finding out all the issues on Vuze via https://wiki.vuze.com/w/Known_Issues.

Under the section MAC OSX 10.10 Yosemite, it says:

As usual there is the issue with OSX upgrades removing previously installed versions of Java. If you have an issue with Vuze not running after the upgrade we recommend you run the Java 1.7 installer from here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/azureus/...g/download

So, first I went to VUZE Uninstaller to uninstall the current Vuze program. And then I deleted any folders and .dmg installer files for Vuze that were on my mac (I had 2 kinds). Then I clicked on the above link and downloaded the version of Vuze on it.

AND IT WORKED. :) The .dmg file on this link was also different from the 2 previous ones I used.

Try it. I hope it helps!
