Vuze can be used to download torrent files from public and private torrent trackers. By default, Vuze is not ideally configured to download and upload files at the fastest speed possible. It is necessary to fine tune Vuze to your system so that it takes full advantage of your bandwidth capabilities. There are a number of tweaks that you can make to the program settings and to your router to make Vuze run faster.
#
1

Launch Vuze.
#
2

Ensure that you are running the latest version of Vuze. Update the program by selecting "Help" and then "Check for Updates." Once the program is updated, proceed to the next step.
#
3

Select "Help" and then "Configuration Wizard."
#
4

Select your preferred language and then click "Next."
#
5

Select "Beginner" and then click "Next." Alternatively, you can enable more control over Vuze if you are comfortable with BitTorrent applications by selecting "Intermediate" or "Advanced."
#
6

Select "Auto" connection configuration and then click "Run Test."
#
7

Click "Next" in the speed test window to begin the network speed test. The progress of the speed test will be displayed on your screen.
#
8

Click "Finish" once the speed test has completed to configure Vuze download and upload rates that are ideal for your Internet connection and then click "Next" to continue through the configuration wizard.
#
9

Note the "Incoming TCP Listen Port;" this number is required to correctly configure your router. Click "Next." You should write this number down or save it in a text document.
#
10

Select your download and torrent file paths and then click "Finish." Vuze settings should now be ideally configured for your Internet connection.

Router Settings
#
1

Select "Start" and then type "cmd" and press "Enter."
#
2

Type "ipconfig" and press "Enter."
#
3

Note the "Default Gateway" address as you will need to enter this number in the next step. You will also need to note the IP address. You can leave this Command Prompt window for easy access to this information in Dog the coming steps.
#
4

Launch a Web browser and type the default gateway address in to your address bar and then press "Enter." You will need to enter your router administrative credentials to continue. If you do not know your router administrative credentials, see the Resources for a full list of default router user names and passwords.
#
5

Select the "Advanced" section of the router administrative page.
#
6

Find and select the "Port Forwarding" or "Port Triggering" section.
#
7

Create a new port forwarding rule with whatever name you would like and enter the IP address in the "IP Address" field and set the "Port Range" field with the port number used by Vuze.
#
8

Click "Save" to open the port and restart your router. Vuze will now be able to freely download and upload through the open port.
