After becoming increasingly frustrated with Azureus reporting errors to me, I descided to do google searches on the "ReleaseEngineer.MACROVISION" part of the string. What I came up with was this post in another forum dealing with Winbox.

open registry editor:

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folder
AppData should be "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming"
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Volatile Environment
AppData ishould be "C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming"
My first one was C:\Documents and Settings\ReleaseEngineer.MACROVISION\Application Data and several others were C:\Documents and Settings\ReleaseEngineer.MACROVISION... Went to Macrovision's web site. They deal in digital rights management... I think it was software I had to download in order to buy some MP3s. Walmart is the only MP-3 download store I've used on this computer. I uninstalled the software but it didn't change the registry entries back.
I deleted all of the entries that had C:\Documents and Settings\ReleaseEngineer.MACROVISION in them (looks like they default correctly when automatically re-added) and Winbox is good again.
THANK YOU!
Dave

I deleted all the strings that showed up with "ReleaseEngineer.MACROVISION" as Dave commented doing above. I still had version 3.0.4.2 installed from my exhausted efforts trying to get azureus to work. Once I deleted all of the strings containing "ReleaseEngineer.MACROVISION", Azureus started up without any errors and started downloading again.
Be very cautious when messing with the registry, do research if you are unsure how to edit it and what to do. I am not new to editing registry in windows as I have been fiddling and building computers for the last 17 years, I am though still fairly new to the Vista version of windows

. I have not rebooted vista yet so I don't know for sure if it is all fixed. I'll let you know when I get back up after reboot.
I hope this helps you.
