What does seeding mean?

Hi I just downloaded a large 2 gig file last night.
Normally I can hit play and view a file before I transfer and convert for my iPod.
I had the same problem happen last week to another file.
The file is completed but it says seeding.
What do I do?
Do I contact the person who made the file available to download?
Do I just delete the file and find a similar file that belongs to someone else?
Thanks.

As a follow up, I can listen to audio only but cannot view video. Thanks.

If you completed the file and seed it (means, you let others download it from you), the download has worked as it should have.
If you cannot play the video, try another player (vlc works best). If that doesn't work... Maybe the file is damaged?
