IP filter autoload update monitoring

Hi there, I found a url that has at least initially served me up a list of IPs to filter. It looks like it is pretty active too, lots of banned IP ranges are being blocked. BUT, I dunno if it is updating. Is there a log?

I am using a bluetack url to autoload the (I think same as safepeer/peerguardian) IP list (http://www.bluetack.co.uk/config/level1.gz). I found it on their forum with various moderators saying the list was here and there, and that they weren't going to do it anymore or that they were. Probably they don't want all the bandwidth on them, wonder if the url will stop working or will change, or the best list will be elsewhere. So, the safepeer plugin might do that for me, plus maybe it updates more often, but it has some install problems, everything is working nicely now using the native autoloader.. Do you recommend I keep it this way or switch and go tackle the posts on install problems for safepeer ?

Thanks tons

I've been using the built-in IP Filter for a while now. Yesterday (26. Sept 2008) the Bluetack level1.gz file wasn't available (0 bytes downloaded), yet there was a level1.zip . I manually downloaded it and used WinZip to check the date of the compressed file (was 25 sept). Today I checked the Bluetack site and found level1.gz with the compressed file date == 27 sept.

By floating your cursor over the status line entry 'IP:' it shows the date of the blocklist (or the last re-start of Azureus Vuze. (Classic Interface). It would be nice if always showed the original file date.

Nice, I can see the native app tries to update when anzureus, zuve or whatever it is restarts. I looked at safepeer's blocklist url, it is http://www.bluetack.co.uk/config/spconfig.txt, but that is just the page that tells safepeer where to go. Right now it points to the www.bluetack.co.uk/config/splist.zip location. So the native filter just needs an option to update more often, or I need to still go figure out why safepeer isn't working. Or, wait for safepeer update.
Thx

Ya, peer guardian2 isn't for vista yet, but I use it for XP, I just checked and the address for the blocklist they use is http://peerguardian.sourceforge.net/lists/p2p.php That might work for the native ip filter too, and (maybe?) get the same thing (sourceforge's safepeer page says so, although safepeer's blocklist url is at bluetack).

It looks like this thread (registration required) http://www.bluetack.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=18386&hl=safepeer

Lists all these lists for use with the native IP filter

http://www.bluetack.co.uk/config/level1.zip

http://www.bluetack.co.uk/config/level1.gz

http://www.bluetack.co.uk/config/psplist.zip

http://www.bluetack.co.uk/config/splist.zip (safepeer)

http://www.bluetack.co.uk/config/pipfilter.dat.gz

http://www.bluetack.co.uk/config/nipfilter.dat.gz

These are not all the same, I think level 1 is minimum and the most common, psp is some merged lists, pipfilter and nipfilter are somebody's paranoid and normal lists.. Sticking with safepeer one me is....

When I load the safepeer list in Vuze it doesn't appear to do anything. I go to Options -> IP Filters and under the Auto Loading section and for the IP filter file to autoload I place "http://www.bluetack.co.uk/config/splist.zip", which seems to work fine. Now I click Load Now and nothing happens. What gives?
