(You can see what has been changed with the 'Edit Log' at the end of this page). Before posting a support question to the forum, please check the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) first. If you can’t find an answer there, follow these guidelines when posting to the Support Forums: 1. Post questions about download speed or firewall configuration to the Speed / Connection Problems forum, post questions about Vuze.com to the Vuze Network Support forum, and post all other Vuze client questions to the Open Support forum. If you are not comfortable with reading or writing English, post your question to Non-English Support forum instead. 2. If you are running Vuze, go to “About Vuze” (in the Help menu on Windows, or in the Vuze menu on Mac OS X) and copy the information under “System” (in the bottom right corner of the About box) and paste it into your forum message. 3. In your first forum message, include your Internet Service Provider and whether or not you are using a wireless connection. 4. Give as much information about the problem – what you are seeing, what you expect to see, how to cause the problem – as you can. Note that we do not provide support for problems using content unless it came from Vuze.com. If you have questions about using content that are not answered here, you need to ask where you got the content. Wish to add comments? We'll be watching the Lounge thread, Read Before Posting Suggestions. For those with internal access, please use Internal Suggestions instead. NOTES: a.) Any questions about using content (video, music, ISOs, etc.) that are not Vuze content will be locked and ignored. Go back to where you got the torrent from for help. You have been warned. If you are only having a problem downloading, then we will do our best to help you. For video, the AzureusWiki has a guide that may answer your question: AzWiki Playback Guide b. Generally, you MUST be using the latest official Version of Vuze, especially if you are using a version from a Linux install disk or repository. Please see the Vuze SourceForge Site for the newest version. Mac OSX 10.4 and below, please see item 'Can't start Vuze on MacOS X 10.4 and below.' c. User mmore1q3 has a useful guide that may be a little less dense and easier to read than this full announcement. You may try reading that as well. See GUIDE: Short troubleshooting guide for some common problems 1.) Before You Make a Post! First, READ the following sections to see if your question is already answered. After, ensure that you have as exact a wording as possible of any error message presented to you. Second, check the 'Health' status for your running torrents. You likely have a NAT Problem if they aren't green smilies. If you post, copy/paste the following and fill it in!: NOTE: Do NOT tell us WHAT you are downloading. A vague description is all we need (music, video, ISO, etc.)

Where do I find the Vuze options? On the menubar, go to:MacOS X: Vuze -> Preferences Windows/Linux: Tools -> Options What's a torrent? How does BitTorrent work? The Azureus FAQ on the AzureusWiki can help answer these questions and more! A good starting place for everybody. My video/music/stuff won't run!Any questions about using content (video, music, etc.) that did not come from the Vuze HD Network will be locked and ignored. Go back to where you got the torrent from for help. However, due to demand, we have set up a basic Video Playback Guide Again, if you only need help downloading, then check out the other questions here and post to the forum if you still need help. I want to be able to choose where my downloads go, and/or be able to select which files to download! To change the default download directory, go to Options -> Files and modify the path shown in the 'Default directory' box.If you occasionally want to choose which files to download, or where to download them to, you can use Ctrl+O to bring up the Open Torrent dialog or File -> Open Torrent. If you want this for every torrent from now on, disable "Automatically download to default directory" under Options -> Files Tracker Status says I am not authorized, unable to leech or that I have a 'Share Ratio Violation'This can happen due to one of two things:1.) You've downloaded a torrent that belongs to a private tracker. Private trackers generally require that you have a username and password, and that you download .torrents from their site while logged in. If you try to use one of their torrents posted somewhere else, you may get 'not authorized' because you didn't download it from their site. Also, if you get a message about being unable to leech or having a 'Share Ratio Violation,' then you've probably downloaded a torrent that is attached to somebody else's account. All the people attempting to use the torrent have probably destroyed the user's tracker-wide share ratio (private trackers normally require a share ratio of .8 or more) In short, go find a different torrent. 2.) You are a member of the private tracker in question and have properly downloaded the torrent, but you have not properly been maintaing your share ratio with the tracker (the share ratio kept by Vuze is for all torrents you run, it may be 'good' in the client, but it does not reflect the ratio kept by the tracker). As such, you are forbidden to continue downloading until you share back enough of what you have already downloaded I want to free up space on my primary hard-drive. How can I move the torrent data?NOTE Simply changing the 'Default Download Directory' does not move anything. This setting is only for future torrents. Also, you must be very careful with these instructions. It can be a mess to recover if these procedures are followed incorrectly. There are several ways you can do this, unfortunately somewhat complicated.
Thanks to mmore1q3 Vuze says there is not enough space on the disk when I try to download a 'large' torrentThis message may report for one of two things.
Thanks to mmore1q3 I would like to add some columns, or some are missing!See VuzeWiki - Column SetupThanks to mmore1q3. Outdated Flash player plugin may cause crashVuze uses IE components and Adobe Flash player for displaying the media browsing experience in Vuze interface.Following error message in java crash logs are a clear sign of that: Problematic frame:
C http://Flash.ocx+0x54377 That is coming from the Adobe Flash Player embedded in your Internet Explorer browser. Please update your browser and related matters through Windows update from Adobe's page the Flash player (through IE, so that it surely gets update in IE). http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ Thanks to mmore1q3 Azureus won't keep the download and upload limits I enter.Make sure that you aren't using Vuze Auto-Speed or the SpeedScheduler plugin.Auto-Speed is available at: Options -> Transfer -> Auto-Speed In the case of Auto-Speed, you may need to turn it on in the settings, save, turn it back off, then save again. Thanks to Fishbowler. I can't get SafePeer to work.Since 3.0.1.6, Vuze has included all the features of SafePeer. As such, you should no longer use SafePeer and instead use the integrated IP Filter. Please see the Safepeer Migration Guide - I have a NAT problem?See AzureusWiki - NAT ProblemAzureus is crashing!Check the latest (sort by date) hs_err_pid*.log file from Azureus' installation directory. Open it in a text-editor and search for the common cases at: AzureusWiki - Azureus DisappearsThe problem most often occurs with AxShlex.dll. If the problem continues or you can't find a matching common case, create your thread with the log's contents as part of the body or attach it to your post (must be a registered user). Default location of Azureus under Windows: %programfiles%\Azureus Copy/paste that address into an Explorer bar or into the Run prompt (with added quotation marks ["]) Error with 'ReleaseEngineer'If a recent Azureus error log contains "Documents and Settings\ReleaseEngineer.MACROVISION" (or similar) on Windows Vista then see Unable to ConnectNote: We take no responsibility for any changes you make to your system. When removing something, I get "Removal Action Vetoed."This item is being shared via Vuze My Shares.Select My Classic-Shares from the Tools menu (in the Vuze UI, from the View menu in the Classic UI) and remove the item from there. MacOS X: Can't find downloaded files on external hard driveOccasionally, if MacOS 'temporarily' loses track of an external hard drive, it will create a 'ghost' volume which will take up your system's main hard-drive space but will be totally hidden from the Finder. Please take a look at the Started Vuze without External Drive Connected thread for resolution. Can't start Azureus on MacOS X 10.4 and below. Most MacOS 10.4 and below installs have an old version of Java which can not be upgraded any further because of Apple. First, check that you have the newest version for your Mac.If you can not upgrade to a higher version of Java, then you will need to download the last Vuze 3 release from Vuze on SourceForge - Program Downloads. Vuze no longer supports Java 1.4 due to Sun Microsystem's End-of-Life policy. For more information, see the Ending support for Java 1.4 article on the VuzeWiki Where is Option X ?Make sure you are using Advanced User Mode (Options -> Mode) or use the search bar to enter a word you might expect for the option.Azureus is in the wrong language, or words are missing!Options -> Interface -> Languages. Select your language and click the Save button.AzureusWiki - Change Language Thanks to The8472 I want Azureus to open my .torrent files.Try: Options -> Interface -> Reset File AssociationsYou may need to be in a higher user-level mode in order to do this. Try Options -> Mode if you can't find the above option. My computer is crashing or freezing!Update your network drivers. Azureus and Java can't directly cause your system to crash. If this continues, attempt to upgrade your Java version. Failing this, create a new thread. What is Vuze?Vuze is a new interface for Azureus, and a media service. If you wish to use the Classic interface, please see the second link.See: AzureusWiki - Azureus and Vuze AzureusWiki - Azureus and Vuze (Use Classic UI) My share ratio indicator is red.It means you aren't giving back to the community a sufficient amount over all your torrents run. Azureus doesn't do anything to you based off this indicator, but some trackers (and users!) keep independent statistics on their users, and may ban you if you consistently fail to give back a minimum (generally a ratio of 1.0 is minimum, with many theorizing 1.25 and above to be the required average-case).You can see how much you've given back per-torrent by right-clicking in the My Torrents views, selecting Column Setup, and putting a checkbox next to 'Share Ratio.' 'Access is denied' when I try to download? You are most likely using search applications (Google Desktop, Windows Desktop Search or others), which 'lock' files as they index. Create an Exclude directory item for the areas where the files are stored.Where is the Vuze program data stored? To simply back-up this data, you might give the 'Vuze Configuration Backup' plugin a shot from Tools -> Plugin Installation (see Config Backup details on Vuze @ SourceForge)For a more in-depth guide, see the Configuration Directory article on the VuzeWiki Easy Windows Path (2000, XP, possibly Vista): Copy/paste %appdata%\Azureus into the Explorer bar Windows 2000/XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\X@X Windows Vista and above: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\X@X Mac OS X: Users/<user>/Library/Application Support/X$X Linux: /home/<user>/X$X Where X@X is 'Azureus' or 'Vuze' Where X$X is '.azureus' or '.vuze' Note: The folder you are trying to find may be hidden, or inside a hidden folder. If so, you'll need to adjust your preferences to see hidden folders. Also, if you are backing up the data to continue running your torrents, the torrent data MUST exist in the same place as before, or else you will need to fix all of the path information. Thanks to fos42 and mmore1q3. 3.) See also: The AzureusWiki The AzureusWiki FAQ The FAQ covers topics for new users as well.
